Veritaserum | Harry Potter Chat
Chatroom Rules
- If a moderator asks you to change your username or to stop doing something,
do as they request. If you feel that a moderator is asking you to do something
that you should be able to do, re-read the rules.
- Any form of rudeness is not allowed. For example, if someone thinks
differently than you about ships or what's going to happen in the sixth book,
be kind. J.K. Rowling is the only person who knows how everything will unfold;
we are merely eager fans. This also applies to politics, celebrities, and lifestyles.
- No cursing (any word that is offensive to someone of any age is considered
against the rules)
- No advertising (do not advertise other websites in the main chat
or through Private Messages)
- Do not use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS (this is perceived as screaming on
the Internet)
- Do not spam the chatroom (spamming is sending many messages within
a short timespan)
- Do not use an offensive username (offensive usernames include those
with bad language in them, those that are degrading to others, and those that
are all in capital letters)
- Do not argue with the moderators. The moderators are in the
chatroom to enforce the rules. If you think that you are being reprimanded for
something that is not included in the rules, read over the list once more and
you're bound to find it. (Then again, if you're doing something against the
rules, you probably haven't read the rules yet.)
- Do not use excessive characters. One exclamation mark is sufficient
- there's no need to type "I'm happy!!!!" when you can type "I'm happy!" This
rule applies to all characters (letters, question marks, periods, etc.). The
number of excessive characters that constitues a kick is four.
- Do not use excessive smileys. Smileys are great fun, but when overused,
they slow down other's computers and make the chat more difficult to read. You
may only use two smileys per message. If you're teaching another chatter
how to use certain smileys, show them in a private message so that it doesn't
distract other chatters.
- English only. Although we recognize that many visitors reside in
non-English speaking areas, we ask that you only use English in the chatroom.
- This is not a dating service.
Whether a user is kicked or banned for breaking any of the above rules is completely
up to the moderators present. Their verdict is NOT up for debate.
CONSEQUENCES
Failure to comply to the rules will either result in a kick from the chatroom
or a ban, depending on the severity of the broken rule. Most bans last for three
days, but they can be extended if a moderator so chooses.
If you have not read the rules, do NOT use the chatroom.
If you've read the rules, we look forward to seeing you!
