1984 - Chapter 02 | | Author: | Daniels_Girl | | Genre: | General | | Rating: | G | | Score: | 4.53191 | | Story: | Dinner was great, thought Harry. They had spaghetti and meatballs, with a side of garlic toast. "So Harry, tell us about yourself," started Mrs. Granger, making small talk. "There's not really much to tell, actually." Harry said modestly. Hermione nearly dropped her fork at that statement. "What do you mean ‘not much’?" Harry looked startled at her, like he'd forgotten she was there. Then she continued, "Mum, don't listen to him! When he was a baby, he survived a curse that otherwise can't be overcome. In his first year at Hogwarts he survived once again and rescued the philosopher's stone, stopping Voldemort from coming back into power. In his second year he saved the school from mortal peril, and…" She continued on about everything Harry had done. Harry's face was burning. He didn't like thinking about it all. He could feel all their eyes upon him. He only stared at his plate and played with his spaghetti. "So, just don't listen to him, he's done great things." Hermione finished, snapping Harry back to consciousness. Bekka was staring at him in a complete awe. He smiled sheepishly and then to take the attention off him he stated, "Well Hermione has been there by my side every time." Bekka shifted her gaze to Hermione. "What? You never told me that!" "He did all the real work," Bekka seemed like she couldn't decide who was more interesting, for she kept transferring looks between them both. "So, um… Mrs. Granger, this supper is really great." Harry said to break the silence. "Thank you, dear," she replied. Dinner finished with lifted spirits because the subject was changed by Mr. Granger to the hot topic of teeth. Harry wasn't the most interested but enjoyed the fact that the mind set was off of him.
The week passed with great excitement. Harry loved staying at Hermione's house. Bekka was still sending unnoticed signals to Harry and Mr. and Mrs. Granger were the best. "Come on Harry, seriously it's time to get up." "How are you so awake when you got the same amount of sleep as me? What was it, like ten minutes?" Harry asked without opening his eyes. "Very funny," Hermione laughed. "But let's go. We have to meet Ron." Harry slowly but surely awoke and got ready. Within 45 minutes they were walking down the enchanted streets of Diagon Alley. Hermione dragged Harry all around, helping him buy all his supplies. "Hermione I honestly think that I have enough quills now. You've bought me six!" Harry said, trudging along with the weight of everything holding him down. "Hey," Harry swished around to see the tall, gangly, fire haired, figure of his best friend Ron Weasley. "Ron," Harry said, so excited that he almost dropped his books. "And Ginny," he added as the gorgeous younger sister of Ron came up, at which point he did drop his books. "Hello to you too, Harry. And Hermione, hi, how was your summer? Harry what happened to your scar?" "What?" Harry asked hysterically. "Yeah mate, what happened?" "They're right Harry, I don't see it," Hermione brushed his hair aside. Harry ran to the closest window and looked into the glass, and the image staring back at him was just as it always was, minus one lightning shaped scar. Harry rubbed around his head as though expecting it to pop out of his skin. "This just doesn't make sense!" Harry said, thoroughly massaging his forehead. "We'll see Dumbledore in school and we can ask him then. As for right now, we have to finish shopping, so that we can actually get to school." Hermione said concerned. "Right," they replied in unison. Hermione and Ron were in lead and Harry stayed behind to ask Ginny, "Are you staying with us as well then?" "Yes I am; is that a bad thing?" "No!" Harry said a little too loudly, "It'll be great." He said in a much more earthly tone. They then caught up with the duo ahead of them. * * * They spent the remainder of the trip catching up on everything that had happened since end of term. Harry was fascinated by Ginny and everything she'd done. They made it back to Hermione's house safely and ready for school. When they arrived, Bekka was already waiting for them on the porch. "This is Ron, the other one I told you about. And this is his younger sister, Ginny." Bekka shook both their hands and introduced herself. Bekka glared at Ginny for the adoring look Harry gazed at her with. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "Hurry or you'll be late!" Ron and Harry were not ready to get up for school. They were still on summer time, and wouldn’t normally get up for another three hours. They both groaned and groggily sat up. "Did we always get up this early for school?" Ron asked, trying to find his way out of his pyjamas. Harry only yawned in response to the question directed at him. When they were finally ready, they headed downstairs, had a quick bite to eat and were out the door in twenty minutes. They arrived at Kings Cross station, and waded their way to Platform 9 ¾. They carefully went through the barrier and were staring at the train’s face on the other side.
