Biography: John Marwood Cleese was born on October 27, 1939 in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, England, UK, to Reg Cleese and Muriel Cross. He was a tall child, reaching the height of 6' by his early teens. At the age of about 13, John began collecting and organizing jokes he liked, starting his interest in humor. John was also of fond of comedy radio shows such as, "The Goon Show." In school, John excelled in sports. His favorite was cricket, in which he was the school's team captain. In October of 1960, John started at Cambridge Univeristy. He decided to join "The Footlights Club." In 1969, the BBC asked John and several other men to do a show that was needed to fill in a programming void. The group became "Monty Python," which John is most famous for. In 1972, John, along with three friends, formed the company "Video Arts," which did business training videos. This made John a fortune. John continues to act and write, but is focused on spending time with his two daughters and wife. He rarely gives interviews.
