HP & Me: I've always harbored a deep affinity for the Harry Potter books, and though I can't say they were the reason I started reading, they certainly top my list of favorites. I picked up the first Harry Potter book in 1999 after hearing some positive things about it at school, and I will readily admit that seven or eight chapters in, I thought it was rather absurd and headed nowhere. Fortunately, though, I pressed on and was soon completely captivated by JK Rowling's story, her characters, and her world.
I started Veritaserum after the release of the fifth Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix, in the summer of 2003. It's grown exponentially over the past four years, and my love for the books has only intensified as Harry's story has reached its end. |

About Me: I discovered Harry Potter in February 2000 when I received the first book as a gift. I was unaware that the Harry Potter books were part of a big phenomenon until I read an article about the fourth book release in Newsweek months later, that motivated me to buy the other books (in Guatemala, as they weren't available in my country back then). About Me: Shamefully, I'm a late comer to the Harry Potter scene,
only been hooked since the amazing adaptation by Alfonso Cuarón. Since
that day I have been addicted to finding out the latest up-to-date information
on all film developments and snippets of clues leaked from JK Rowling herself
about future books. After seeing PoA, I read through all of the books
many times, and came to the decision that although all are great, my favourite
has to be OotP. I just cannot fault it (ok, Grawp gets skipped on
the third and fourth read through).
I discovered this great site when looking for sites that had the latest
news all the time, and Veritaserum filled that gap perfectly and amusingly,
I ended up helping to post the news when Matthew's asleep. |

About Me: I got hooked on Harry Potter in 8th grade. I had to write a book report and I hadn't read a book, so I figured I'd just read the first and last chapter of Sorcerer's Stone (a pivotal step when trying to convince a teacher you have read a book that you really haven't), along with some cliff notes, so I would have a basic idea of what the book was about. I read the first chapter and couldn't stop; the rest is Harry Potter history. I'd been around VTM for quite a while when I contacted Mathew to see if I could work on some of the sections of the site that needed some help. He was cool with the idea and, as of right now, I'm editing book 7 theories.
When I'm not working on the site, I run track for the university I attend, so you can usually find me out hurdling it up on the track...or trying to, anyway. In my free time, I like just hanging out or watching TV. I'm pretty chilled out, so it doesn't take much to keep me entertained. I like jet skiing, 4-wheeling, sand volleyball, being with my family, and making fun of bad serious movies - you know, those ones that are supposed to be serious but have such a low budget that they just end up being cheap and funny? Ahh, gotta love 'em! I'm a secondary English education major, so someday I hope to be a high school English teacher (obviously) and force all my students to read Harry Potter. I love traveling and doing mission work, and I hope to get to Australia next year, but I'm poor, so that probably isn't going to happen. |

About Me: JK Rowling has successfully kept me attracted to Potter since it
was released in the US. One boring summer in the library, I stumbled upon a
couple of books that were newly released and not even used. At that age, I
was judging books by the cover, so thanks to Mary GrandPre and my love for
fantasy, I began an adventure that has taken me far beyond my dreams.
My passion for the series only grew as the movies began to trickle in.
Because I realized that books and movies could never be the same, I accepted
the fact there was only so much of the books that could be used, and so my
love for the books expanded to the love for all things Potter. Over the GOF
season, I decided it was time to experience the movie "prems"! Along with my
mom, I flew to London for a week long trip. By far, this was a highlight in
my life. I couldn't have dreamed for a better time. Although I had to sleep
on the street and spend 18 hours in the rain, I met the most fantastic
people and we savored every last second. Although I also attended the
Domestic Premiere in New York, the time I spent in London could not be
compared to. Hopefully there will be many more events to attend in the
future. |

About Me: I actually did not like anything to do with Harry Potter initially. I used to think it was over-hyped and a silly kids thing, but this was when I knew absolutely nothing about it. One day, my brother rented the DVD for 'Sorcerer's Stone'; I watched it with a great air of scepticism, and by the time the movie had finished, I was completely in love with all things Harry Potter. From there I saw the 'Chamber of Secrets' in the movie theatre (yes, this dates back to 2002), and then decided to read the books, beginning with 'Prisoner of Azkaban'. Needless to say, I was hooked, and have been a very big fan of the books and movies since.
For non-Potter info, I love watching movies, new and old, and am a great fan of that; I enjoy reading, just hanging about with mates and such, and basically living life. I change interests as frequently as Harry Potter news is updated, but I've got a great affinity for both sciences and journalism, which are two different extremes, but they are two great passions of mine, and I hope to do well with them (as I have been studying them for ages now). I'm also slightly obsessed with photography, but that shouldn't come as much of a surprise. |

Favourite Characters: Severus Snape and Delores Umbridge. A good book has to have a stong bad guy to play against the hero. Snape I believe is Rowling's best creation. The character is so deep it just keeps your mind guessing what is going on with him. Umbidge is is an evil witch. She was perfect for the purpose of pitting Harry and Dumbledore against the Ministry.

About me: I study Foreign Languages and Literature at university- English and Spanish (but I speak English much better!). I also work as babysitter at nights and weekends. Harry Potter and me: I must admit it wasn’t love at first sight... When the first book was released in Italy, I was about ten or eleven, and I was a keen reader. But when I saw HP on bookstore shelves for the first time, I thought I wasn’t going to read it, as it’d be such a long series, and they’d surely turn it into commercial stuff. Which proved to be true, of course! But then, at Christmas time, I ran out of new books, and didn’t really know what to read. Out of desperation, my mind was struck by two words, beginning with H and P... I phoned my mummy, who was at the supermarket at that moment, and told her to grab and buy all the hp books she could find! And after I began reading about Harry’s world, I completely forgot my worries, because it’s really worth it, I mean, waiting so long, and realizing your favourite character’s becoming sort of show business stuff, and what have you... It’s such a wonderful story I really don’t care now!
Su di me: Studio Lingue e Letterature Straniere all’università, Inglese e Spagnolo (ma conosco l’inglese decisamente meglio!). Lavoro anche come babysitter la sera e nei weekend. Da “grande”, vorrei fare la traduttrice, o comunque lavorare con i libri, o le lingue, o qualcosa del genere. Nel tempo libero, mi piace leggere, guardare film e ascoltare musica.
Io e Harry Potter: Se devo essere sincera, non è stato amore a prima vista… Quando è uscito in Italia il primo libro, avevo circa dieci o undici anni, e adoravo leggere. Ma quando ho visto HP in libreria per la prima volta, ho pensato ‘Non lo leggerò mai!’, perché ero certa che sarebbe stata una serie lunghissima, e che ne avrebbero fatto un fenomeno commerciale. Quello che è successo davvero, in effetti! Ma poi verso natale, avevo finito tutti i libri e non sapevo cosa leggermi. Presa dalla disperazione, mi sono venute in mente due parole, che iniziano per H e P… Ho telefonato a mia mamma, che in quel momento era al supermercato, e le ho detto di comprarmi tutti i libri di hp che sarebbe riuscita trovare! E una volta entrata nel mondo di Harry, mi sono del tutto dimenticata delle mie preoccupazioni, perché ne vale davvero la pena, voglio dire, aspettare così tanto, e vedere che il tuo personaggio preferito sta diventando un affare per lo show business, e tutto il resto... E’ una storia così straordinaria che davvero non mi importa ora! |

About Me: My first impression of Harry Potter was not the best
one. I didn’t like it, and all my teachers at school freaked out so they forced me to go see the

About Me: When I was "young" (hehe) I used to go very very often to the library of my town, and read a lot and everything (from Little Red Riding Hood to science or mythological books). One day the librarian-woman recommended to me some books about a boy who was a wizard but he didn't know it, and... No, I did not take them. I forgot it completely ^^.
Some time later, on 2001 March, in newspapers there were posting news about the release of the Spanish and (in my case) Catalan translation of a new book of a saga very successful around the world: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. And there were rumors, in addition, that they were going to make a film of it. So on March 27th of 2001 I ran towards the library to borrow the first book of the saga... But already it was taken. Of the four, there was only the "Chamber of the secrets". Without thinking it twice, I took it that day, and I devoured it. It enchanted to me, I fell in love, it fascinated to me. So I bought "Goblet of Fire", but I didn't want it to read until my parents bought to me the other books. On March 16th of 2001 I went to the theater to see "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone", and still more desire of reading the other books entered to me. Then I 'requested' them to Santa Claus and brought to me for 2001 Christmas the first, the second and the third ones (because I had already bought the fourth). On January 26th of 2002 I finished the four books and still it fascinated to me plus the world of Harry Potter. And here I am. I am a really Hp-freak who knows books through and through (Scrimgeur's!!! xD)... and a VTM News' Spanish translator! |

About Me: After living in Northern Ireland all my life i’m currently
heading into the final year of my sociology degree, which I’m absolutely
loving (as you see from my posts on the forum, it's relevant to anything
and everything), and I'm just about to finish a course in Childcare and
Education (touch wood) and I’ve worked part time in a day care nursery for
the past three years which I equally loved doing. When I finish all my studies
I’d love to go live somewhere else for a while, but ultimately I’m a home
bird, so probably not for too long! (that’s the plan anyway :-P)
I'm quite quiet (which kinda clashes with the ‘student lifestyle') and take
a while to open up to people. That being said I'd like to think I've a very
friendly personality and I’m sure you’ll find there are times when you can’t
shut me up on the forum. :-P
Hmm, now interests. I'm an avid reader (of anything and everything) in particular,
I love to keep up with current affairs and politics. I try to go swimming
once a week. Music wise I’ll give anything a listen, (the first (proper)
album I ever bought was Blur Parklife). TV and film wise I love my sci-fi
and drama shows, like Stargate and Voyager, and of course I’m fanatical
about anything Harry Potter. I'm relatively new to the Harry potter fandom,
but I've been reading (and re-reading) the books for what feels like ages
now (I can’t believe the end's nearly in sight!). I’ve also built up quite
a collection of Harry Potter related books over the years, which I either
get as presents (all of my friends and family are well aware of my obsession)
or pick them up here and there.

About Me: First off -- I’m not a guy. I’m a girl; the username sometimes
creates some confusion. I picked it because I have a sort of weird fascination
with the many underappreciated "minor" characters in the Harry Potter books.
I discovered the Harry Potter series for the first time in 1999, but my
obsession with the books really kicked off in 2001 and I started being active
on fan sites in 2004. Aside from my interest in The Boy Who Lived (a hobby,
granted, that has threatened to consume the very nature of my existence
within recent years), I like being outdoors and doing sports, particularly
horseback riding and tennis, as well as reading. My favorite author at the
moment (aside from J.K. Rowling) is Jeff Shaara, who writes books about
American military history. In school, my favorite courses are in math and
the sciences, and if you are interested in a really random factoid about
me, the website that I visit second-most frequently (you can take a guess
at my #1!) is weather.com. :-) |

About Me: I'm currently taking a masters degree in Computer Science.
I started reading the HP books right after I saw PoA at the cinema last
year. I love twist endings - in both movies and books. And as I kept blinking
at the Shrieking Shack scene at the end of the movie, I silently vowed to
pick up the books and read them as soon as I got home. And boy, am I glad
I did! Which is why PoA is my favourite book, closely followed by OotP and
GoF. I love reading and some of favourite authors include Sidney Sheldon,
Iris Johansen, Nicholas Spark and Jude Deveraux. I listen to almost anything
except heavy metal, that gives me headaches truth to say, although I do
listen to the Matrix soundtrack when the angst kicks in... Ooh, and I love
my computer very much and couldn't live without at least an hour a day in
